Her blue eyes scanned the zoo, she inspected the bones and the cages with wonder. She knew she had broken law, she was tresspassing on another's land but she was bored and had nothing to do so she had decided to explore the zoo... The night before she had gone to the park and washed herself in the fountain so her fur was rich and glossy not to mention clean. She walked silently from exhibit to exhibit. She sniffed around the inside of the lions age before retreating, it smelt of death...oh and cats. She went on to the Zebra exhibit. Sniffing around she found a good sized bone and snatched it up making her way to more exhibits. She spotted a picnic area and went to lounge under a tree and chew her bone. As she chewed she thought about the Zoo; How could the humans have just left? They just left the animals to die. Sort off like they did with us. "You know if I had been a human's dog I would have been famous, to be put on show and get medals and all that...I think that would have been fun." she said to no one in particular. "I would have had a place where I belonged...A home I guess that is what you would call it" Even though she was whispering, in the silence of the zoo many could here her. Her voice had sent a squirrel scampering away along with a few doves who had been sitting above her in the tree. She closed her eyes for a moment, a paw resting on her bone, it had bite marks on it but it was not opened nor cracked. She let herself imagine she lived long ago when the humans were still around. Music came from somewhere off to the left, it was almost overpowered by the roar of the humans' talking. She could here children exitedly pointing at the exhibits they wanted to go and see while parents tugged them on to the places the were supposed to go. The occasional zoo keeper or one of the maintanence staff passed her as she sat. One of them came up to her calling her name "Shiela girl, come" It was her master. She ran up to him joyfully and proceeded to follow him round the zoo. Helping him with the things she could and otherwise obsevring. She watched as he fed the elephants and how he gave a Kangaroo her flu shot. But it was over to soon, th sun was going down and it was time to go home. She jumped next to him into the land rover and settled hersefl on the passenger seat before he left. They followed many winding rodes before arriving home. She jumped out of the truck and just as she was about to enter the warm house and get her dinner of tinned dog food something happened...a sort off chittering. She snapped at the squirrel that had awoken her from her joyous dream and settled back down to continue chewing her bone. It had not been long since he had settled into the so far quiet lifestyle of the Kari leader and for now he was spending his days simply wandering boredly through the more than dead packlands of the zoo admiring the weird and wonderful creatures that had once been magnificent left to rot and turn to bones once the humans had left. The lucky ones had escaped he found as he examined an empty wolf exhibit but he doubted that many of the escapees had made it very far without the guidance of the humans that had fed him. He remembered it quite well what it was like the first few weeks he was out on the streets scavenging the bins of the city while underneath his old silver pelt he wasted away terribly. Those were sad days… days when the dogs were nothing but desperate mutts but now with a place where they can rest and live in peace he was sure he was going to set an example for the other packs to follow later.
His long pink tongue dabbed his lips moist as he stopped to sniff a post with intent to mark but quickly his attention was snapped elsewhere when he caught scent of a stranger in his midst. He followed the scent to a Zebra enclosure but it was only semi-fresh and the scent continued on towards the place where humans used to go to eat. Trotting happily in his own pace he approached the canine with confidence, noticing she was chewing on the old remains of some poor creature.
“ Hello. I’m Fender, the Leader of the Kari pack… or at least it will be a pack once I have more company.” He smiled warmly and wagged his tail high in the air. Over the time he had been a stray his once snowy white coat had become quite sullen and clumped together in some places yet it was clear to anybody that it had once been a magnificently thick coat. Everything else from his old life remained, his charming personality and his very much likable face… he had to thank somebody for that at least. “What is your name?” He asked pleasantly.

Shiela looked up startled at the newcomer, her blue eyes scaning him searching for a sign of hositlity. She stood up, dropping her bone. Her intermixed coat shining in the sunlight that poured down from the sky and through thew trees green leaves. Her innocence suddenly gone showing fear even if the male seemed harmless, she had learnt never to expect that from them. They usually just lured you in before striking a hurting blow. She would know, she was to accepting. Though, he did seem quite friendly with his thick coat and wagging tail. "I was tagged Shiela" She replied unsure, her mother had called her a diffrent name. The name she had was the one that had been picked by a human. She didn't know when or how but she knew it was her name, well its what she called herself and whatever you call yourself is a your name right? She decided to study the dog who had called himself Fender and named his home this place and had named the others here Kari pack. All so confusing in her childlike mind yet it was what it was. She noted the features that made him him so that she would be able to distinguish him from the others that ruled this world. Her thoughts were still dwelling on the dream she had just encountered, the one where she had had an owner, a wonderful life a fantastic home. Never once did it occur to her that maybe she should stay here, it did not occur to her that that was what the dream wanted. That she was supposed to join this pack so called Kari ruled by the white male who stood infront of her, who had greeted her as a friend and not an enemy. But either way she let herself think about the dream and wish it was true, all the while ignoring the truth that was litrealy infront of her nose.
